The Thoughts

Books that shaped me

The Body Keeps the Score

In my search to understand why finding inner peace felt so elusive, I came across a book that shifted my perspective on both my own experiences and how people process trauma. We often think of trauma as stemming from major, life-altering events—’Trauma’ with a capital T. Yet, smaller experiences can also leave deep marks, and each of us processes them uniquely.

Even two siblings who experience the same event may remember and interpret it very differently.

This book helped me realize that all emotions are valid and inherently ‘right’ in their own way. Each one leaves an imprint, shaping us, whether we’re aware of it or not. Understanding alone isn’t enough; true healing goes beyond simply rationalizing our experiences.

The Good

Once I discovered the truth about his motivations and limitations, after the anger subsided, I actually felt closer to him than ever, as if I could finally understand him completely.

I’m sorry that I had to endure so much heartbreak that it completely overshadowed any good that could have been.
